Recent UK media reports have suggested that Huawei may scale back or withdraw some of its solar PV products from the UK market by the end of 2025. While these reports have raised questions, Irish solar customers can rest assured Huawei has confirmed that it remains fully committed to the Irish market, where it has operated for more than 20 years.
Following the news, the Micro-Renewable Energy Federation (MREF), which represents Ireland’s renewable energy industry, sought clarification from Huawei about what this means for Irish customers. “Given Huawei’s importance in the renewable energy supply chain, it is important that the company clarify its position,” said MREF Chairman, Ciaran Kells.“We need to understand whether they intend to pull out of the UK market and what impact this could have on Irish customers.” In response, Huawei has stated that it has been in Ireland for 20 years and looks forward to the next 20 and beyond.
This means that Huawei’s operations in Ireland are unaffected, and customers with Huawei inverters and LUNA battery systems can continue to rely on full support, warranties, and service through their installers.“We welcome Huawei’s reassurance,” Mr Kells said“While MREF remains cautious until all details are clear, Irish homes, farms, and businesses can be confident that their systems are secure and well supported.”
